GLMF 2004

the Growl-off

First a little set up to our story.
This year there were 3 different factions in our shire.
The red - the villians (or misunderstood) who wanted to take the Phoenix stone for evil purposes.
The blue - the heroes who wanted to protect the Phoenix stone.
The green - a neutral force who just wanted to keep war from breaking out, kind of like a peacekeeping force.

During the run of faire, each side recruited as many people to it's side as possible.
On the final weekend, at 3 of the clock, each side assembled their armies and marched to the center of town to face off.
The army who is judged to have the best WAR CRY (for we do not want to escalate to violence) would be the winner.

I, being upon the side of green will be more than slightly biased in my retelling of the tale.

SATURDAY

The green army arrived in the center of town first. While we awaited the arrival of the others, we cleaned a few spies from our ranks.

The might of the green army!

The
pitiful ranks of the blue army.
And this is befor Brunhilda took about 10 of her followers with her to the side of red!

Which I saw coming when I viewed this earlier in the day.
Some time after that, I observed Brunhilda with a red ribbon as well :o

And this is all the red army could muster.

As you can see the army of green far outnumbered both the blue and red combined.
Just before the growl-off took place, Notradamus and Duke
Camilliard came to an agreement and the blue armies joined those of the green armies.

The red did not stand a chance.

Except for one problem. The judges (pictured here) were bribed!
Even after we struck terror in the hearts of the foes
And the judges voted 5-2 that we were the best
The winner was announced to be the red army !?!
Seems Machiavelli bribed the elves with promises of cheese.

Things were not pretty after that.

SUNDAY
(Location changed because we drown out the Bawdy Ballads on the Stumble Inn stage)

The might of the blue & green armies united

Again the paltry red army.

On this day, the red army was defeted. Handily.
The king was on hand to make sure that no dirty tricks were used.

I did not get many pics though, as the set-up in this location made it almost impossible to get any good shots.

I did get a few nice pics of the king in full armor though.
