STILL IN PROGRESS |

| This is Britny's 5th model. I grabbed this
one on ebay cheap, just for her to build. I thought she
would like the subject matter. Boy was I ever right. She
loved it when it showed up in the mail. After looking
over the instructions, she was even more excited. When
she saw that the head and arms moved, plus the mouth
extended and retracted she went right to work on it. She built the model with absolutely no help from me. She did a good job. Seams are nice and tight, and she got most of the gates trimmed off nice and close ( I still kind of worry about her and hobby knives, but no problems so far). She said it went together nice and easy. The only thing she needed the instructions for were the parts on the back. She said she wasn't real sure about how all that went together, and it took her a little test fitting to get it all worked out. She has the base coat done, as well as a little accent and highlighting. She asked me for some ideas on what else to do. She said that she wants all the neat details to stand out a little more. I think she is ready to try a little drybrushing. She has seen me do it and wants to give it a shot on this model. So next time she feels like painting, I promised to show her the basics. She also wants it to be a little shinier, so I am going to pick up some clear satin for her to use. She isn't sure if she wants to use the clear dome that is supposed to go on top of the head. If she does, I'm going to have to try my hand at polishing the surface so it looks a little better. A new experience for me. My subjects don't have many clear parts, so that should be interesting. Epecially with her watching me try to figure it out. I would recomend this model whole heartedly. The fit is really good. The details are very nice. (I have no idea if they are accurate or not though). I even picked one up for myself after seeing hers. Looks like a lot of fun to paint (and if anyone knows about my model building, I hate the painting part. So that says a lot) |

Quick update. Brit did a few touch ups on this kit and entered it at Wonderfest 2003. She scored a certificate of merit for it !! How cool is that? |
