This is an archive of the thread we had
on the official Iron Maiden bulletin board trade section.
Where we worked on verifying concert dates and weather or not a
boot actually existed of the show.
It is meant to be used as a reference tool. Anyone can feel free

| Iron Pedro listened to the first night speech before the Trooper, Bruce says something "welcome to the unnoficial start of the new tour", the live thing must be in another speech during the show. on the second night there's no speech before The Trooper, i'm listening to the whole show now after the Trooper
Bruce thanks everybody that came last night, so that
proves it's different |
15.03.1985 World Slavery Long Beach
| Ancient Maiden Stupid Question,... or better said rethorical question: The Bootleg "World Slavery Long Beach" which shall feature the concert of Iron Maiden at 15.March 1985 is a fake or?? |
| tay666 Will let you know after I listen to it. Just got it in a couple days ago, and it is in the queue to review within the next couple days. For the record, I will be very skeptical of it. I'll be looking for some kind of proof in the boot that it is the real deal. |
| texasknight It is a soundboard recording and LONG BEACH is mentioned and it is from the World Slavery tour going by the setlist. As to the ACTUAL DATE ? I couldnt promise you anything.... |
| tay666 Well, what I want to see, is if there is anything that isn't on any of the official recordings. Otherwise it is just an audio rip/copy. That's why I trade for shows like that. So I can find out for myself if they are real or not. There are some shows I have gotten multiple times, just hoping that one of them would be real. |
| Ancient Maiden To solve the whole thing... just listen to "22 Acacia Avenue"... Bruce is screaming 2times Hammersmith in the beginning before the song starts, and shortly after the song started "Scream for me Hammersmith!" awesome version, but a proof that it isnīt from Long Beach |
| texasknight Its highly likely that it was both shows combined into one bootleg. The flow from song to song, and the audience banter back and forth (from what I remember, I havent listened to that boot in a year probably) sounds uncut up until a certain song (dont remember which, but its about 9 or 10 songs into the set) and then as you say, on 22 Acacia Ave Bruce does scream Hammersmith. basically, the whole thing is not from Long Beach, but it seems (if I remember correctly) that all of disc 1 is from Long Beach and disc 2 is actually Hammersmith. |
| Ancient Maiden nope... just listened to "Hallowed be thy Name"... in the middle Bruce screams: "Scream for me Long Beach"... I could imagine that someone used some audience clips and mixed it with the beginning and end of each songs... you moslty here a whole crowd with many whistles... |
| Iron Pedro hum, i believe that version is often traded as the last night and not 15-03-85 wich is the second night where the video was shot. i have the 1 cd version and from what i remember is taken from the video but i have to check it better. i also received that version you're talking and it's Live After Death complete with the 4th side of the record, no more no less than that. from what i know only the 1 and 3 night were recorded by the audience, LAD was mainly the 4 night |
| tay666 Of the ones widely circulated The 2 cd is a fake The 1 cd I just listened to is also a fake. All speaches are exactly the same as LAD. If the show were real, they wouldn't all be the same as it is a mixture of all the different nights. There is no guitar solo where it should be. The songs are out of order from what they were performed in (going by the setlist from other shows in the same time frame) The other 3 nights do exist as can be seen in this post from a while ago (see below) |
Other World Slavery Long Beach
| just because someone has a fake show,
doesnt mean a real version doesnt exist. at least 3 of
the 4 Long Beech shows are known to exist (all but the
second night). anybody who has "slavery
uncensored", ("soundboard" second night)
should check it ... its really a rip from one of the
official releases (tape, LP, laser disc, or video). here
are the dialogs from the 3 known audience shows Mar 14, 1985 Los Angeles, California - Long Beach Arena (Pre "Revelations") " ... Ha Ha Ha ... (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... All right, hang on ... This is song off of Piece Of Mind album we wrote all about religion and all kinds of things like that ... doesnt really refer to people who have thier heads stuck up thier asses ... but if they wouldnt mind fucking off and dying, they'd do the world a great service ... Song called Revelations, this one" (Pre "Ancient Mariner") "A little pixie ... a little pixie just whispered in my ear and said did you know ... iron maiden are doing some shows at long beach this year ... and they're recording them for a live album, did you know that (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... not many people know that ... ha ha ha ... (INDISTINGUISHABLE) that's what i call enthusiasm (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... so if you ... if you shout very loud, you might even hear yourselves in this next album ... (INDISTINGUISHABLE) out around Christmas i think, alright (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... we're gonna ... we're gonna do a little song for you now off the new album ... the new albums by the way called powerslave, if any of you ... and uh, this song was written by a guy ... a bloke called samual taylor coolridge wrote the idea for this song, alright ... which is also a very long song because this song is about 13 minutes long (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... MORE DIALOG EXISTS Mar 16, 1985 Los Angeles, California - Long Beach Arena (Pre "The Trooper") "Well good evening to you Long Beach Arena ... And how are we all tonight, alright ... Saturday night, the 3rd of four nights here, that Iron Maiden are doing at this .. at this venue, right ... last year we did one night, this year we're doing four, right ... that must ... that must tell you something ... this is a song which is on the Piece Of Mind album, right ... (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... song called The Trooper" (Pre "Revelations") "Well a very good evening to you again (SLURRED) ... Phew ... Thirsty work up here, thirsty work ... you might see ahh ... dont worry about it, if you see a strange ... strange thing looking over pre-historic monster roaming the stage tonight, we are actually ... we're actually filming (INDISTINGUISHABLE) for Wheaties here tonight ... no, really ... actually we're making a ... we're making a kind of video thing tonight ... it's going to go on sale all over the world, alright ... as the Iron Maiden video, alright ... and we had to select an audience ... we had to select an audience worthy of putting them on cameras in front of millions and millions of people (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... anybody remember from the album The Number Of The Beast, it was called i do believe ... yes, yes - way back, way back ... and all that shit we used to get in those days ... what was it ? ... agents of satan ... devil worshipers .. all that crock of bullshit from all those people ... drunk out of thier asses all the time, you know what i mean ... you can always recognize one of those religeous people ... cause thier heads ... you cant see thier heads, cause its stuck up thier bum, when thier talking to you ... strange group of people ... in fact, they would ... they would do the world a really good favor if all of them would walk into the nearest cliff and fuck off and die or something like that, alright ... right, Revelations this ones called" (Pre "Ancient Mariner") "We've got this new album wondering around somewhere ... wondering around in the streets ... the album is called powerslave, alright ... when we did the album, we thought, we'd uh ... we would'nt bother with the usual three and a half minute hit singles and all that kind rubbish and everything ... we'd go for something a little bit more substantial ... something with a bit more balls to it ... something with a bit more meat to it, you know what i mean ... we came up with this idea for a song based on an old english poem, right ... very very old poem ... its about ... oh ...hundreds of pages of poetry on this thing ... its about 13 and a half minutes of music this little track, anyways ... this thing we're going to play for you tonight ... the strange thing about it ... the strange thing about, is that the guy who wrote it, right ... wrote it, long long time ago back in the ... (INDISTINGUISHABLE) 19th century of england, who's name was samual taylor coolridge ... who's long dead now, right ... but, when he wrote it ... now this is a strange reflection on our time, right ... if your going around town ... your smoking a joint, right ... someone's going to bust you & tell you it's bad for your health & all that kind of shit (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... this guy ... this guy wrote one of the most amazing pieces of poetry in the english language, right ... and he wrote it when he was stoned out of his brains, ok (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... and further more ... further more ... at the time when he wrote this poem, right ... a time when he wrote it ... there was a young lady in england called queen victoria ... who's the queen of england ... and i dont know if you know this ... because marijuana then was legal in england, right ... it was completely legal ... queen victoria used to wonder into the toilet when she used to get real bad period pains ... and she used to have a couple of joints, you know ... to kinda to sooth the pain ... (INDISTINGUISHABLE) some nice policeman come ups tries to bust you for having a joint ... you just tell him ... hey look (INDISTINGUISHABLE) the queen of england used to smoke this shit, and it never did them any harm ... (INDISTINGUISHABLE) state of the empire, but who gives a shit about that ... the rime of the ancient mariner" Mar 17, 1985 Los Angeles, California - Long Beach Arena (Pre "The Trooper") "Oh Long Beach Arena ... This the fourth (INDISTINGUISHABLE) of Iron Maiden's little residency down here in Southern California ... And this is also the night, when we're actually recording this concert for a live transmission around the world ... and you nice people out there, are going to be on the definitive Iron Maiden double live album thats going to be out sometime ... Here is a song off the Piece Of Mind album ... the song is called, The Trooper! ... Now let me see your hands in the air!" (Pre "Revelations") "Nice to see you ... and seeing ya is nice ... Ha Ha Ha ... What was it ?, Number Of The Beast i do believe was the album (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... remember all that uh ... remember all that shit that we used to get on the number of the beast album ... iron maiden are devil worshipers ... satinists ... about to corrupt the youth of America ... what a load of old bullshit really, you know what i mean ... honestly, very interging ... you can always recognize one of those people, you know, saying all this stuff, you know ... cause usually they're wondering around in thier little business suit and little tie ... you cant see thier head, cause it's stuffed firmly up thier asshole, you know what i mean ... anyway, enough said about people like that ...heres a song off huh, Piece Of Mind this one ... written about religion ... or about washing your car ... actually it's about i think a pair of curtains ...songs called Revelations, this one" (Pre "Ancient Mariner") "Hey ... How many of you guys here tonight, uh listen ... last time we played Los Angeles, right ... last year on the Piece Of Mind tour ... last time we played here, we did one night here and we sold out ... now this time, we've done 4 nights and we've sold out, and i wanna were all the fuck all you people have come from all of a sudden, you know what i mean ... hey, why arent you at home watching your MTV, you know what i mean ... yeah, i kn.. know exactly what you mean ... i think the whole fucking thing sucks (INDISTINGUISHABLE) ... well listen ... how many people ... just, just give us a (INDISTINGUISHABLE) because i'm curious, you know ... for my own curiousity, really ... how many of you people here tonight (INTERFERENCE NOISE) seen us on ...Uh ? Hello (Bruce Suprised By Noise) seen us on huh, thursday, friday or saturday night here ... in that case ... you'd be ... you'd be very pleased to hear that i dont say the same fucking thing every night, more or less, you know what i mean ... you'll also know something about the next song we're going to do, alright ... which is uh, the 13 minute one, the one thats on the new album ... the new album called powerslave ... remember that ... just to recap, we did this 13 minute song on this new album we got called powerslave ... and theres a song written by a drug crazed English poet ... called Samuel Taylor Coolridge ... who used to take the same drugs as Queen Victoria, which is to say he used to go have a couple of joints around the back, you know what i mean, cause it used to be legal in those days ... and the moral of this story, this is what not to do if a bird shits on you ... Pretty average quality recording but still nice IRON MAIDEN : Royal centre,Nottingham 20-10-86 (2 disc) DMM 009 1st show back after Bruce got sick at Sheffield.(they cancelled Ipswich).Great quality even though i had an annoying flapper next to me. If anyone decides to make covers for this, i'd suggest the title "Caught fishing in Nottingham"! You had to be there.... BRUCE DICKINSON : Rock city,Nottingham 20-6-90 (1 disc) DMM 010 Second show of the tour. Couple of slip ups but still fine performance. No,actually its excellent performance! Killer recording also. DIMM round V Ipswich Gaumont 18-9-84 2CD "Ipswich Murders" DMM 011 Special gig as they added "Murders in the rue morgue".Decent quality, recorded from balcony Newcastle city hall 24-10-86 2CD (1st night) DMM 012 Classic gig, nice recording Birmingham odeon 30-10-86 2CD (1st night) DMM 013 First of 3 nights at the Odeon. Unfortunately, all the intro & part of "caught somewhere in time" was NOT recorded. Apart from that, its a typical nice sounding show. Audience a little louder than usual as seats were more than half way back. Beast 1982 tracks 1-5 29-4-82 stuttgart tracks 6-13 28-8-82 reading radio broadcast DMM 014 "Hope you enjoy the shows included in DMM5. The bonus disc is "Beast 1982". This comprises Stuttgart ī82 (MIX) & Reading festival ī82 (FM). Part of the reason why I am sending this is, so everyone can hear what GENUINE mixing desk recording of Maiden sounds like (theres way too many audience recordings of Maiden I see listed as mixing desk, when in fact they are not. Hopefolly after this, people should be able to hear massive difference between AUD & MIX! The Reading radio b/cast is kinda redudant since the box set was released, but, this is the original broadcast complete with "TV on the radio" introductions :-) ENJOY!" DIMM round VI Newcastle City hall 16-9-84 ( 2nd night ) 2discs DMM 014 Sheffield City hall 17-9-84 2discs DMM 015 Both average sounding recordings, direct from masters as usual. Sheffield is special as they add "Wrathchild" to the standard set list. DIMM round VII DMM 016 "Children Of The Damned" Leicester De Montfort Hall 20-9-84 (2CD) Another of the special UK gigs where they added an extra song to the set, this time it was "Children Of The Damned". Decent enough sound for the year. DMM 017 "Fantastic First Night" Oxford Apollo 3-10-86 (2CD) First night of the UK tour & interesting to compare to later dates in the tour.( EG:The set doesnt run as smoothly as later shows & Bruce "gets lost" a little in "Stranger...") Recorded from approx 4 rows from front, almost centre, near Charlie Benante! (& a good man he was for not grassing on me!) Nice sound. Unfortunately part of "Hallowed.." is lost as whilst transfering, the tape partly died :-( DIMM round VIII DMM18. de montfort hall,Leicester 6-5-83 2CD Absolute killer gig with the typical great audience that Maiden always got at De Montfort Hall.Comparing the audience here to my Nottingham 83 show is like night & day.Very nice recording considering the age & equipment used. DMM19. Manchester apollo 10-10-86 (1st night) 2CD This was back when the Apollo had seats downstairs. Unfortunately i wasn't in the best position;i was near the back, but it still sounds very nice & clean. I'd forgotten how good this show was....but then just about every gig on the SIT tour was great.Another classic from this great era. DMM20. Derby assembly rooms 11-10-90 2CD This was a tough gig.I got a lot of things wrong this night.(Takeing the Mrs was an error lol). There was a lot of pushing & stuff down the front & the recording is "up & down" because of that.I got my levels wrong & was hitting the red too much. Also cut "No Prayer..." as wasnt on the game for the tape flip. Yeah, sometimes it goes wrong no matter how much experience you have lol. Having said that, its NOT a crap recording. Still worth having :-) DIMM round IX 1. Title : "(Nico says) Fuck my old Boots!" Venue : Royal centre,Nottingham 29-9-84 2cd DMM21 2. Title : "Having a wonderful time?" Venue : city hall,Sheffield 16-10-86 (2nd night) 2cd DMM22 Also, in my continuing quest to get the best quality versions of Maiden shows out to the masses, i'm also offerering up Sheffield 16-10-86 DVD (note, this was NOT filmed by me!). Ive not got any of the numerous previous versions of this dvd, but, in theory, this should/could be better than whats out there up till now. My reasoning is the fact that it was recently authored from a 1st gen Betamax tape where as (chances are) all other versions will be authored from (at least) 2nd gen VHS. There will not be a lower gen release of the show as the the filmer packed in at least 15 years ago & the 8mm master no longer exists. Known "flaws" to the audio recordings Nottingham 84 : The microphone used had separate jacks for the left/right channels.Unfortunately, one jack wasn't fully connected so the master tape is pretty much one channel. What i did was copy/paste the good one & replace the dead one. Sheffield 86 : Totally missed all the intro tape & cuts in during "Caught somewhere....". Record levels were too high so it brickwalls for 2 seconds, then i adjusted levels. Due to tape flip after "Phantom.." i didnt quite catch Nicos drum count-in to "Hallowed ...". Otherwise everything is there. Note also, this is the notorious show where Bruce had serious vocal problems (resulting in the Ipswich gig being cancelled) Hey, we all mess up taping sometime ;-) |
